We’re back with plenty of ionic action in Silver Spiral Stories: Hostile Negotiations – Pg 7. We get to see more action spotlighting Andrea Mayden’s bodyguard capabilities, continuing from where we last left off. Is there anything this woman/machine hybrid can’t do?
It’s been a very chaotic January and I apologize for this update coming so late into the month. I recently only just got my internet connection back after not having it for five days. Plus, January has been a pretty rocky month for many people, so if I have to update a comic late, I’ll be fine.
I’ll have two more comic updates over the next two days. Those will be over at CosmicDash.com, though. I’ll have additional news there.
As far as my other websites are concerned, throughout the month of January, prior to losing internet access, I wrote a ton of stuff. Here are some highlights from my essay collection:
- Wolf Man (2025) – This Will Be Divisive
- Panel By Panel: Jan. 5, 2025 – Absolutes and Ultimates
- Revenge of Graphic Content #7: Creature Commandos – S1E3 – “Cheers to the Tin Man”
And many, many more.
Oh, I also have some new comics that are coming out here and there as well.
Anyway, more news in tomorrow’s Cosmic Dash update. See you there.
Lore – Ionic Beams
Andrea Myaden’s primary weaponry in her augments is an ionic beam. This is generally a solid, self-defense option for most citizens for two reasons. The first is that the memory of the rampaging robots that would eventually form the foundation of the Artifici faction is still very much remembered by citizens across the Empire and the Federation. As a result of that, robots tend to be heavily regulated and fitted with software that can shut them down, such as in the case of the incident at ShmoofyLand. It also means that for many galactic residents, carrying something capable of firing ionic energy works as a precaution against hostile robots, which are still very much a reality.
Secondly, ionic beams are a general, all-purpose weapon off the cuff if nobody is wearing any sort of dampening or grounding tech. Most people would not expect someone like Mayden, seemingly a standard terran, to fire a beam from her arms. Mayden also has a particularly powerful beam installed, as her task as Drakar Vadis’ bodyguard demands.
